Billing concepts and seat-based pricing
What is a member?+
A member is a user with write access to a private project. Followers (read-only) are not billed. A user in multiple projects counts as one billable member.
How does per-seat pricing work?+
Each member with write access occupies one seat. You are billed for each occupied seat. A member counts only once, even across multiple projects.
What happens when I change my plan?+
Upgrading gives immediate access. Downgrading to free keeps full access through the current paid period, then free plan limits apply. New members added since your last billing are charged at your current rate.
When does billing take place?+
Monthly plans bill on the same day each month. Yearly plans bill once per year on your anniversary. New members added mid-year are prorated.
What happens when I add and remove members?+
Adding: new members are prorated for the remaining cycle. Removing: immediate access loss, no refund. If you add someone after a removal, they can use the freed seat at no extra cost until the next billing period.
Can I switch between monthly and yearly billing?+
Yes. Switch anytime from your billing page. Moving to yearly saves 20% and takes effect immediately. Moving from yearly to monthly takes effect at the end of your current annual period.
Workmate AI credits and packs
What are AI credits?+
AI credits power Workmate features — generating stories, creating tasks, improving descriptions. Credits are charged once per user-facing action and belong to the account shared across all team members.
How many AI credits does each plan include?+
Free Donut: 40 credits/member/month (capped at 200). Academic Donut: 40 credits/member/month (capped at 1,000). Standard Donut: 300 credits/member/month (no cap).
What are AI credit packs?+
One-time purchases that add extra credits on top of your monthly allowance. Starter: 250 for $5, Growth: 1,000 for $15, Team: 5,000 for $49. Purchased credits do not expire while your subscription is active.
Do unused AI credits roll over?+
Unused included credits roll over for one additional billing cycle. Purchased pack credits do not expire while your subscription is active.
